The Light at the End of the Tunnel

I never would have thought opening a brewery would take me on this path. I’ve learned new trades; I’ve made lots of friends; I’ve lost count of the scrapes, bruises, cuts, gashes, and burns on my body, and most likely suffered a broken rib during demo (there’s a video posted somewhere on Facebook). I also didn’t think we would ever have to fight through some of the hurdles along the way including building inspections, equipment malfunctions, delivery schedules…the list goes on and on.

At the end of the day, though, little things can make the blood, sweat (no tears yet, as far as I know) and stress worth the effort. Things like Friday: gluing the last fitting in our glycol piping and then being able to stand back and look at how awesome it is and knowing how well it’s going to work. Things like Sunday: the entire day we spent cleaning our building, along with some help from family (a huge thanks to the Maish and White clans for their huge efforts!) and then taking in a clean(er) facility. Things like the support we’ve received from friends, family, industry cohorts, and the public; people that believe in what we’re about and what we’re trying to do. Things like today, amid a potentially disastrous day, we receive a pallet of Dragoon growlers.

The first run of Dragoon Brewing Co. growlers!

To be filled at the brewery soon!

While we can’t fill these growlers with beer yet, we know some day (soon) we will. The delay in our opening is the furthest thing from intentional. Hell, we wanted to open last September. But our devotion to great beer extends to every aspect of our operation. When we open, we will come out swinging. So when we fill those growlers with our beer, it won’t just be tasty, it will affirm our devotion to starting this brewery and doing things right.

  1. Nice post! I can’t wait to try the brews. Let me know if you need any more help. I would love to spend a couple of hours helping you guys set up or organize whatever still needs to be set up/organized.
